If you have answered yes to any of the above then its time you got off that hamster wheel and made a start on reaching your dreams and goals.
5 Steps to Get off that Hamster wheel !
1. STOP:- It is that simple, but true, if you feel like you are spinning round and round and it is getting you nowhere, just stop, take a moment to just stop and think.
2. RE EVALUATE:-
Once you have stopped, you need to sit and think about your situation. Do you want to stay in a job that you don't like, doesn't fulfil you or has no room for you to advance in?
Is it healthy to remain friends or stay in a relationship that just isn't working for you anymore, is all one-sided, or where the other person zaps the life out of you, leaving you feeling tired, unhappy, and worthless?
Ask yourself "Why can't I obtain my goals and dreams?", "What's stopping me", "what is in my way?" also ask yourself "What can I do to change my situation?"
3. SET NEW GOALS:-
Look at your currant goals and ask yourself "Do they still fit me?", "Are they still what I want?" If not, re-write them.
Are your old dreams still your current dreams or have they changed?
Nobody expects everything to change all at once, but once you re-evaluate your goals and set yourself new ones, you can begin to work towards them, break them down into small manageable steps that are achievable. Don't just set these new goals in your head, get them written down, post them somewhere where you will see them every day, the screen saver on your laptop or computer, the front screen of you mobile phone, my favourite is 'post it notes', I stick them all around the house, where I am reminded of them every day.
4. MAKE CHANGE:-
This is the hardest step of all, You now know what needs to be changed, you just have to start making it happen.
Do not be afraid, fear is good, if you face your fear it will drive you forward, otherwise you will just slip back into your comfort zone and wind up back on that hamster wheel!
It is important to make changes, change is a good thing. but remember; Only you can change your life - No -One else can do it for you!
5. GETTING STARTED:-
So now you have made the decision, you've set your new goals, broken them down into easy achievable steps all there is left to do is get started!
So now the only choice left to make is when to start. You have two choices either jump right in right now and begin or set a date on your calender/phone/computer for sometime in the next week or two. Mark it with a loud alarm so that you can't miss it when it goes off. One piece of advice, don't set that date any longer than a few weeks away otherwise you will fall back into your comfort zone and wind up back on that hamster wheel.
Here's to positive changes and finally getting off that hamster wheel!
These steps can be used over and over again, whenever you feel you are back on that hamster wheel, just work through each step and move your life forward.
